Focus Reading(s): Mark 1:21-28
This week is the first of seven or eight sermons based on sermons from 3 or 6 years ago. My wife and I will be away as our third child a girl will be born.
This sermon is the second of four where we see the authority of Jesus displayed. They lead up to the transfiguration. Here I introduce the notion of Jesus teaching with authority and having authority over evil. Of these old sermons I think this one is probably the weakest. It's also the oldest which gives me hope that my preaching has improved.
Questions for thought or discussion:
What do you think of the notion of authority? What do you think of the notion of evil? If Jesus has autority over evil, what could that mean for the hristian life?
