Jeremiah 29:1, 4-7

I've done an experimental Youtube version of this podcast.

What does it mean to be a light shining from the hillside? What does it mean to be the salt of the earth. If you look at our church building on a map and think of the 30-40 people we currently get on a Sunday you would be forgiven for thinking that we can’t have much impact. If on the other hand you think about the places we work, the family networks we are a part of, the places we work and the people there, and the other groups we are a part of the picture radically changes. We touch the lives of thousands across an area from further away than Kingaroy to further away than Ipswich. When the people of Israel were in exile in Babylon they could have lived only for themselves, but God says, “seek the welfare of the city and pray for it for in its welfare you will find your welfare”. That is what it means to be salt and light. It means taking the church to the community. It means witnessing and serving in all the places and among all the people God has given you.
