Focus reading Isaiah 40:21-31 (But refers to 1 Corinthians 9:16–23 & Mark 1:29–39)  Direct download click here

The first hearers of today’s reading from Isaiah were the people of Israel in exile. They had lost their country, city, temple, land and probably family members. They were dragged to a strange land. They had lost everything. Perhaps they might also lose their God and their hope too. Isaiah tells them that their God created and sustains the universe and is greater than their current circumstances. Not only is God great and to be feared God also forgives, restores and renews. That same Lord embodied in Jesus restores Peter’s mother in law and people all over Galilee and that same restoring and renewing power seizes Paul so that he can not help but share the Good News with all and by any means.

How has and does the power and renewal of God work out in your life?
