Focus Passages 2 Corinthians 4:3-6, Mark 9:2-9

The Disciples had seen it all especially Peter and James and John. They should have known that Jesus had authority, was special. In fact less than a chapter earlier Peter has declared Jesus to be the Anointed one, the Son of the Living God. When Jesus is transformed and shines like he is made of light, you would think that Peter would stop and listen instead of babble about tents. You can almost hear the frustration in God’s voice as it speaks from the cloud “This is my beloved Son Listen to him!!!”The Disciples had seen it all especially Peter and James and John. You can almost hear the frustration in God’s voice as it speaks from the cloud “This is my beloved Son Listen to him!!!” It is in Jesus that we see all the glory and majesty but also the character of God. We see that God is a loving parent (Dad), compassionate, just, good and all powerful. As Paul puts it Jesus is the “image of God” and in his face we have received the light of the knowledge of the glory of God. (2 Cor 4:4,6) Like Peter sometimes we are distracted by our own agenda or ideas, we lose the plot and God has to shout us down. Sometimes like Paul we are so captured by this light that we have to share it. This should be our task to proclaim Christ and not ourselves. We are to be mirrors or windows of God’s light in our world that others may see this glory.
